Take This Room and Shove It

Thanks to everyone reading my blog and giving me all the fun feedback.  I have a project for you now.

We moved into our current house in December 2010.  Love it.  Most of you who know me know I L.O.V.E. western decor.  But alas, this house isn't jiggy wit' it.  Therefore, I am transforming my western living room into something else.  The couches stay, the decor goes.
 Goodbye
 Goodbye
 Goodbye
 Goodbye
 Goodbye

If you're interested, I will share in detail the progress of my living room project here on the blog as it develops.  I'll be discussing the plans, the mess, the fun, the woop-sies, and I'll be depending on you for comments, opinions, perspectives, etc.  Polls will be happening.  You'll be choosing what my life will look like as I walk into my front door right along with me. Because, let's get real here: I have no clue what I'm doing.

Who's in?  Come on!  I cross my heart and promise lots of pictures of dogs riding ottomans.

This ship has sailed!

"This Is How We Dooo-ooo It!"

Enter Sandie and Lucy: The Truck cleaners.

This is Sandie.  She is the perfect replica of Martha Stewart's "Oatmeal" paint color.  She's my brown-eyed girl.
This is Lucy.  She's our snuggle beanie baby.  I would love to offer a better picture of her but she was too busy to give me a decent shot.
Lucy was Jamie's dog.  Jamie is my husband's beautiful little sister.  Lucy used to belong to Jamie.  One day, Lucy had babies.  One of the babies was Sandie.  So Sandie's mom is Lucy.  So Lucy is Sandie's mom.  And they all live with us.  Lucy and Sandie, not Jamie.  Aren't you glad you have me here to explain these things to you?
This is one of the many things Lucy and Sandra D. are good for.  My Gear Head Guy messes up his truck and my darling pooches clean it like so.
And here is the best part.  This is my Diesel Sweet Lovin's.  He's lovin' on his baby.
He sees no reason to get in the others way.  He believes in living a quiet life off to the side.

Pugs.  Get one.  Today.

Do not labor for the food that perishes, but for the
food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you.  For on him God the Father has set his seal.”  John 6:27

Jesse & Alfalfa, Alfalfa & Jesse

I am absolutely positive you can't say your dog's "been there, done that" on this one.  This is Jesse.  She's a Standard Poodle and she has a peculiar comfort food: Alfalfa!

My Auntie Margaret gave me a gift bag full of Alfalfa when we got married last year.  One day, I left it by the front door as a reminder to take it to the barn.  Next thing I know, I find Jesse doing this......

Alfalfa was all over my floor.
This is Jesse napping contently after her "comfort food" snack.....
This is my little brown-eyed Sandie communicating her "what the?"
Sandie and Diesel had NOTHING to do with the goods.  Sandie walked away confused....
My Diesel-Love-Muffins went back to his baby.....
And Jesse saw all was right with the world.  Maybe we all need a little Alfalfa in our lives.

Hen House Lesson For Your Viewing Pleasure

"...how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings..." Matthew 23:37

Hen House Study June 2nd @ 7:00 p.m.
We are on week 3 in Ruth

Enter Boaz

Read Ruth 2:1-12

Let’s Glean!  2:1 What do we know about Boaz?
·       His name means “Swift Strength” or “Standing in Strength”
·       Wealthy Landowner, man of substance in Bethlehem in Judah
·       Impeccable reputation
·       His pedigree shows he is from the tribe of Judah.  From Boaz came David, Israel’s great King before the reign of Jesus Christ, the King of Kings.
·       Read 1 Kings 7:21.  David’s son, Solomon, was so struck by his great-great grandfather Boaz, that he named one of the two main pillars of the temple after him.  Their names, Jachin (“He Establishes”) and Boaz, (“In Him is Strength”), may show Solomon’s humble dependence upon God.
·       Boaz is a picture of our Kinsman Redeemer, Jesus.

Refresher  Boaz lived in the time of Judges:  “In those days there was no king in Israel:  every man did that which was right in his own eyes.”[i]  The country was crooked, unfaithful and impoverished.  We talked about chaos last time.  This land is chaotic, confused, beaten, why?

Go Deep  The word “Kinsman” is translated goel in Hebrew.  Goel means EEMDRREE (unscramble the word and write it BIG inside the box):

Numbers and Leviticus outlines God’s plan to prevent the economic system from getting out of control.   Read Leviticus 25:23-28 about redeeming the land.

·       To the ancient Israelite, if one had to sell his land, his situation was pressing and critical.  Both food and income came from the profits of their land.  Sickness, a crops failure to thrive or other hard times could make an Israelite go into debt so much that they would have to sell their precious land.  But there was hope!….
·       A relative could buy the land (Lev. 25:25) and pay off creditors.  This way, the land remained in the extended family; the unfortunate family stayed on their land; and in time the redeemer was repaid.

·       The redeemer was the nearest male relative.   The closest kinsman had the right at anytime to buy back property lost through bankruptcy, poor business choices or wrong doing.  That is why the word goel is translated as both “kinsman” and “redeemer”.

·       Jesus is our Goel.  We are bankrupt.  We are a mess.  We have nothing.   We are foreigners.  We are orphans.  The law of redemption and the law of the Jubilee year are perfect examples of what Jesus did on the cross for everyone.  Everything lost in the Garden by our first parents can’t be recovered in any way.  We cannot go back to the place, Eden.  However, Jesus, redeemed it for us.  We have been ousted from our inheritance, but we are granted return in the Year of Jubilee.  We will live with Jesus in Paradise. [ii]

1.  Describe another merciful law in Deut 24:18-20 (underline every word that says “stranger”, “fatherless” and “widow”):

2.  In times of trouble, why would a widow’s situation be intolerable?

3.  According to the Law of Moses, as a relative, what is Boaz able to do for these two women?

4.  Read Ruth 2:3 carefully.  Did Ruth intentionally go to the field of Boaz?
·       Ruth made her home in a foreign land.  Instead of depending on Naomi or waiting for good fortune to happen, she took the initiative.  She went to work.  She was not afraid of admitting her need or working hard to supply it.   She made use of gifts and opportunities God had already given, like health and energy.  When Ruth went out to the fields, God provided for her..[iii]

5.  Read verse 4~I LOVE THIS!!
·       Boaz walked among his reapers.
·       Look up Matthew 1:22-23.  What is our Boaz called?  What is the translation of that name?
·       God has always chosen to walk among us…..
o   Genesis 3:8
o   Deut 23:14
o   John 1:10-14

6.  The Unnamed Servant  Read verse 5.  Who is Boaz talking to?  Who is he?

7.  What was the unnamed servant’s job?  (verses 6 & 7)

8.  How did Boaz’s servant recount the conversation between him and Ruth?  What did she say to the servant?

·       Read Titus 3:1 & 2
·       James 3:17
·       Galatians 5:22, 23

9.  In gentleness, Ruth asked for a favor that she may have claimed as an entitlement.  As a foreigner, why might that be a problem?

10.  Definition  In verse 7, Ruth asked Boaz’s servant if she may glean.  What does this word mean?

·       “To ________________________together” or "to _______________ ________". [iv]

11.  “What the heck are reapers?”  (verse 7)

12.   “What the heck are sheaves?”  (verse 7)

13.  In verse 8, what specific instructions did Boaz give Ruth?

14.  Where are WE to stay?  Read Galatians 1:6-10, 4:3-7, Luke 10:38-42…..“Just keep swimming, just keep swimming”.…(name that movie).

15.  Gleaning  Verse 9: “Let thine eyes be on the field that they do not reap, and go thou after them: have I not charged the young men that they shall not touch thee?”
·       How might this verse compare with Mark 14:6?

16.  Read verse 10
Not only was Ruth a “stranger”, she was a MOABITESS!  Read Deut 23:3-6
Refresher  God cursed the Moabites and banned them from the tabernacle for how long?

·       If your great- great- great- great- great- great- great- great grandmother had Moabite blood in her, could you go into the Sanctuary even if you were an Israelite?

17.  Ruth said to Boaz: “Why have I found favor in your eyes that you should notice me, when I am a foreigner?”  [v] Let’s put our 3D glasses on as we watch this scene.  Try to describe Ruth’s emotion/thoughts from what she said (see handout).

18.  How could it be that YOU have found grace in God’s sight?  Read Ephesians 2:4-10

Found! Love Note..

In our last house, we had the computer set up in our bedroom.  One morning, I turned over, yawned, stretched, caused a charlie-horse in my calf muscle, screamed, flip flopped like a fish in a frying pan, composed myself, wiped my tears, took a deep breath, remembered what I was doing, started again......turned over, sat up, rubbed my eyes, opened them and saw this message in the biggest font possible on the computer screen:

Sometimes, they know how to say all the right things, don't they?!!  I took a picture so I could have the memory forever.  Charlie-horse, bad, love note, good.

The End

obtains favor from the LORD."
Proverbs 18:22

Make Like Jesse

When church is over, all I want to do is eat and sleep.  I daydream on our 40 minute drive home about laying on the couch and denying anyone's existence the rest of the day.
I alone probably travel around 500 miles a week to and fro, from here to there, and back again.
My house is clean.  My belly's full.  My caramel mocha has been consumed.  My house is quiet.
I'm gonna make like Jesse and slumber this afternoon.  I hope you'll do the same.  Happy napping!

Love,
Lowe-Dub

Question about sweepers: outdoor AND indoor use?

It's a sunny Saturday.
 That means yard work day.
That means I get to watch my man use machinery.
That means I get to feel my heart pound.
That means I get to take pictures of my favorite person.
Which means I didn't do much work.
Which means I got to watch him more.
This is our riding lawn mower with the sweeper on the back
It is the absolutely ONE AND ONLY time he cleans up after himself.
He stayed home sick from work yesterday with the cold I lovingly passed onto him.
I came home last night and the house was a wreck.  How does one precious man make such a HUGE mess?
Coke bottles, cereal boxes, tissues, candy wrappers, popsicle wrappers, blankets, pillows, crackers, squeeze cheese containers...
So here is my question: Should I take this sweeper inside my house to clean the mess?  Anyone?........Bhueler?
Heads up!  I think he knows we're talking about him.  Let me know if you would take a sweeper inside your house.  Thanks for the feedback.  Gotta go.  Like, now.

Love,
I think I'm in trouble.

WE. ARE. FAM-ILY!

There are 3 May birthdays in our family: husband, sister & cute brother-in-law.  We gathered, we partied, we noshed.
First, I would like to point out my Martha Stewart mom's fruit platter.
I love her.
And I hate her.
I mean, how are you suppose to feel when someone walks in with that kind of culinary creation?  So I raised my hand and said, "I made lemonade!"
*crickets chirping*
My precious baby lamb nephew.  I bought twisty straws just for him.  He dug it.  He sucked it.  He went home with it.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the people who lived here before we did for leaving behind their super-duper deluxe kid-crazy play set.
My baby nephew loves it.  I swing on it too.
At night.
After all the lights in my surrounding neighbors houses are off.
I wear black.
He is such a sweet, happy love!

THIS is the face of a baby boy who is already a motor head.
That's my husband in the blue.  He was born May 4th.  I love May 4th.
This is a picture of a daddy looking into the eyes of his baby.
Mother, brother, 4 wheeler =trouble
This is my sister and her baby watching husband and daddy having fun.
If you've ever wondered if 4-wheelers are fun, look at this picture of my brother-in-law.  4-wheelers are a blast.
Until you run into a sand dune at full throttle in front of your husband.
Because you've forgotten how to stop.
Because you froze up and forgot where the breaks were.
And then you eat it.
And then the machine falls on top of you.....but that's another post on a different day.
Where was I?
This is my punk little sister riding in our pasture.

She screamed a lot but survived.
I like her in yellow.

This is my dad.  Having a military background driving and riding in those huge military-esque Hummers, this machine was a bit amateur.  Thanks for throwing us a bone anyways, dad.

Next up......my lover.
My true north....

The source of my heiny tingles....
The reason for my abdominal flutterbyes
I like him.

Silence falls upon the crowd as "the pro" mounts his steed
And we all watched my Knight rip it up and do wheelies.  Did I spell that right?  "Wheelies"?

I didn't get pics of his amazing stunts.  Just this one where he's circling and building up speed.  I was busy holding my breath, closing my eyes and hoping life insurance pays for 4-wheeling causes of death.
His triumphant return.  He rocked.  He scored.  He's mine.  All of him.  Forever.  And ever.
My dad brought 3 birthday cakes for each birthday person.  My sister's baby shared hers.

Two guys are in their own worlds figuring something out individually.  Then, in the middle, is my sister's beautiful smile.
Candles were lit.  Wishes were made.  Smoke was everywhere.
I love every one of these people.  Great day.  Great food.  Great fun.
This....is my family.
